Bellis Pouch: Free Pattern (US Terms)

Pattern:
Base Section
Using your 4.0 mm hook, attach Yarn A to any hole along your wooden bag base.
- Pull up a loop and ch 1 (this counts as your very first stitch).
- Work 1 single crochet stitch into each hole around the wooden base. Remember to insert your hook, pull up a loop, then yarn under and pull through both loops.
- Continue working around until you have 32 stitches in total.
- Join the round cleanly with a slip stitch into your starting chain.
Body of the Bag
Switch over to your 6.5 mm hook.
- Round 1: Ch 1 (counts as your first single crochet). Work
[1 inc, 1 sc]14 times, then work 4 sc in the remaining stitches. Join with a slip stitch. Do not chain from this point onward. Place your stitch marker in the very first stitch to mark your beginning of round. (46 sts) - Round 2: Work 1 single crochet in the back loop only (scblo) of every stitch around.
- Rounds 3 to 14: Work 1 standard single crochet in every stitch around. Maintain even, steady tension to keep the sides vertical and sturdy.
- Round 15: Work
[4 sc, 1 dec]7 times, then work 2 sc in the remaining stitches. (38 sts) - Round 16: Switch back down to your 4.0 mm hook. Work 1 neat slip stitch into every stitch around the top rim.
Fasten off your yarn, break it, and weave in your ends securely on the inside of the pouch.
Finishing & Gathering
Drawstring Tie
- Using your 4.0 mm hook and Yarn A, work a loose chain of 100 stitches. Fasten off.
- Using a blunt yarn needle, thread this long chain through the spaces between the stitches along Round 15, weaving in and out evenly around the top opening.
- Tie the ends securely and adjust the gathers so your pouch pulls closed and opens smoothly.
Floral Embellishments
Using your 4.0 mm hook and Yarn B (Sunflower Cotton for centers, White Cotton for petals), create seven mini flowers following your floral layout chart. Sew these securely onto the front grid of the pouch body to complete that signature Y2K aesthetic!
