lI absolutely love – no, adore – knitwear, but when it comes to children’s wear, I am a huge fan of crochet. Not only are crocheted sweaters a great deal more durable than knitted ones, but they also take a lot less time to make and are incredibly customizable. What’s more, they are a satisfying project for a confident beginner, that’s exactly why I designed the Colour Dip Jumper: Free crochet Pattern for you!
When I designed these Colour Dip Jumpers, I took all of those things into account. Kids need a warm, cozy sweater that is easy to slip over a t-shirt on cooler evenings, but it also needs to have personality and be both modern and timeless. That is why I chose this color-block design; it is always trendy and features a practical, basic structure that looks fabulous with jeans, shorts, or tights with a skirt. It truly goes with any outfit!

Designer Tips for Success · Colour Dip Jumper: Free Crochet Pattern
- Stitch Work: Stitches are worked “yarn under” unless specified otherwise. We do not use foundation chains; instead, use your BOR marker to keep track of your spiral.
- Colour Changes: When changing colours, insert your hook, pull up a loop, and continue your stitches – no need to chain!
- Customization: This pattern is highly adaptable. Try the garment on as you go; stop increasing the raglan section when it fits comfortably under the arm.

Pattern Instructions
Setting Up the Raglan
Using 4.50mm hook and Yarn A:
- Ch 52 (54, 64) and sl st to join. Place BOR marker in the first ch.
- Ch 1, ch 1 again (this is your increase space), and work 1 ext sc into the same st.
- Ext sc into the next 12 (10, 12) sts, [1 ext dc, ch, 1 ext dc] into the next st (this is your increase point).
- Repeat the increase process for all four corners.
- Continue in a spiral, working [1 ext sc, ch, 1 ext sc] into every marked chain space until the raglan section reaches the desired length (11/12/13cm).

Working the Body
- Break yarn. Fold work in half, aligning the underarm chain spaces.
- Sl st to join the armhole spaces (see Diagram 2). Place a new BOR marker.
- Change to Yarn B. Ext sc into every st until the body measures 15 (16.5,18) cm from underarm to hem. Break yarn.
Sleeves

- Insert hook into any st around the armhole.
- Ext sc into every st around until the sleeve measures 10 (12, 15)cm from armpit to cuff.
- Work two rounds of standard double crochet.
- Change to 3.00mm hook and work one round of sl st for a neat edge. Repeat for the second sleeve.
Collar & Finishing
- Using Yarn B, work one round of ext dc around the neck opening. Optional: Work one extra round of sl st to tighten the neckline.
- Weave in all ends.
- Wet block your garment to even out the stitches and achieve that professional finish!
